BMW Repair: replacing ignition lock cylinder, 1979 bmw 320i, bmw 320i

1979 BMW 320i.  How does one go about replacing the ignition cylinder that the key goes in so a new key can be used to start the vehicle?

being that old of a vehicle parts are going to be hard to get.The best bet is to find another 320i and replace the column.It does get quite complicated to replace.It may be possible to go to the dealership and get the code to cut a new one but being as old as it is that too may be a problem.
