Audio Systems: hook up surround sound, bose acoustimass 16, harmon kardon receiver

Question
I have a Harmon/Kardon receiver and just purchased Bose Acoustimass 16 Series 11 6.1 channel.  Can you e-mail some simple directions on how to hook up this system up simplified.

Answer
Hello,

I'm happy to narrate through it but this is definately one of those cases where a picture is worth a thousand words.   Pages 7-10 on your manual should walk you through it pretty well, you can get a copy of your manual online by clicking the "Owner's Guide" link on this page:
http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_PRODUCT_PAGE_EVENT&product=am16_surrou...
Or you can try this direct link:

Check your contents with page 4. If you bought your system second hand you may have just discovered that you need to order a "System Input Cable" from Bose.

Essentially, just plug each speaker into the back of the bass module according to its location (Right Surround, center, etc.).  Then take the large cable bundle (a.k.a 'System Input Cable" and hook the rectangular spiky part to the bass module, and use the labeling on the wires at the other end to guide you as to where each wire goes into the receiver (e.g. "Left +" and "Left -" wires go to the Left speaker out "+" and "-" on the back of the receiver).  The "RCA" connector is for the bass module itself and goes to the "LFE" or "Subwoofer out" connector on the receiver.
Just FYI: the plug on the bass module is for the subwoofer amplifier.  The cube speakers don't come amplified - they rely on your receiver for that. Some people find that confusing.

As far as speaker placement, page 5 on the Bose manual should help.  You can get more general advice here:

I hope that helps.  If you're stumped by something in particular please feel free to follow-up, I'm happy to do what I can.
Good luck!
