Audio Systems: Dead Alpine CD Player, alpine cda 9805, alpine cd

Hi,
I have had two Alpine CDA 9805 decks in my car (a '67 VW Bus) but both have gone dead.  Each time, I would go out to my car, put in the face plate and would not be able to get the unit to power up.  The decks both worked fine when I last parked and removed the faceplate.  Each time there has been a burnt wiring smell coming from the deck.  Is there any chance that these decks could be revived?  Thanks for any advice that you can give!

Once that expensive smoke is released, it's pretty hard to put it back inside! lol
You should have your vehicle's charging system tested, especially for voltage regulation. It may have been putting more than 15 volts to the decks and fried them. Also, boosting dead batteries can do the same thing.
