Audio Systems: pc=8;, crossover filter, amp output

Question
hello i have a 2000 chevy pickup and i was thinking about adding a 12in. sub and amp , i was wondering how to wire it in to my factory wiring

Answer
There are several options, but let me tell you how I would do it.

ONE:  Obtain an interface adaptor with extra outputs that will feed the subwoofer.  They can be found at various web sites in the net - try www.crutchfield.com for example.

TWO:  Purchase a sub amplifier that has built in crossover filter.

THREE:  Then, connect the sub to the sub-amp output and you are in business.

OR: You can purchase subwoofer that are self-powered, having the sub amp built into the same box that holds the woofer.

I would not drive the subwoofer from the existing in-dash system unless you already have an extra amp channel running idle.

If you give me the head unit make and model I can be more specific.
