Audio Systems: Wiring problem please help, amp trigger, car stuff

Question
Hi. I have a 1995 Ford Explorer. When i turn the car on, the speakers won't work. My subs work in the back but none of the door speakers will produce any sound. Sometimes when i turn the key backwards, the speakers work but for the most part, they never do. People tell me i probably have a short somewhere but i don't know how to check. I've taken the doors off and checked the wires but i haven't seen anything wrong. please help somehow. thanks

Answer
weird!  There are cars that actually have a separate part in the switch that runs the radio,  in your case it may run a factory amplifier somewhere so when you turn the key backwards it makes contact and the factory amp turns on.
take a look at www.installdr.com. there seems to be 2 different types of connectors and it shows a wire that has an amplifier trigger on it.  try and remove your radio and see what connector you have, that'll tell you wether you have the factory amp or not. we may be able to re wire the amp trigger to something that turns on with the rest of the car stuff.  take a look and write me back.  I'm sure I can get it to work for you.  I'd appriciate (if you're serious about fixing this) that you get a meter so I can talk you through testing the wires, if you dont have  meter I'm flyin blind and it will make this ALOT more difficult.

Good luck!
