Audio Systems: Designing A Car Audio System, pioneer subs, nissan sentra

Question
Hi, Im trying to design a car audio system for a 1997 Nissan Sentra GXE.  I only got like 400 bucks and need an amp, case, and subwoofers.  Ive seen a couple of packages but im still not sure if its worth it.  Do you have any suggestions, anything that sounds best together.  I was leaning torwars pioneer subs that are 800 peak and an 600 watt amp...that will run me for everything...about 299.99 without wiring.  I want crisp sound and loud if possible.  And not very easy to blow...Thanks!!!

Answer
well crisp sound is going to come from the door speakers and head unit.  both of which you're not talking about changing,  so right now it's going to be as "crisp" as it's going to get until you change that.  as far as adding bass thats what you're talking about with the amp, sub and by case i think you mean the subwoofer box.  you can save yourself some cash if you build that yourself.  If you have a tablesaw I can help you build a great box for very little.
As far as the amps and subs go I think power acoustik is the biggest bang for the buck.  there's better stuff out there but if you only have 400 bucks max thats who I would go with.

my recomendation would be the A2400DB amp from power acoustik you can get it on Ebay for about $220 including shipping.
and 2 FUBAR 12"s from power acoustik, on ebay they're going for $250 with shipping for a pair.
I know that's a little more than you wanted to spend and you still need wires, you can get a decent 2 gauge kit again from ebay for like $40.

I guess by the time you spend money on wood and all the stuff to build a box you're probably look at $600 with this setup.
If you really can only spend 400 maybe the prefab kits are all you can get.  other than them I'd say get the power acoustik OV2-1600.  that's only like $150 with S&H  you can still get the same subs that are $250 for the set and there's your 400.  you still need the wires and box though.

not a ton of options in this price range I'm afraid.
