Audio Systems: Amplifier Wiring Kit Trouble, butt connector, rca input

Question
My kit came with a pre-assembled ATC fuse holder. there is a 12 inch power wire looping from one end of the fuse to the other. Am i supposed to cut it in and solder one end to the rest of the power wire and connect the other end to the battery or what? the RCA cable also came with the remote wire twisted in between and the slack they left isn't long enough to reach the remote terminal on my amp while connected to the RCA input at the same time. what do i do?

Answer
yeah, I've seen these cheap kits before.  you are suppose to cut the wire about in the middel.  you crimp a ring terminal on one end and that goes to your battery, and there should be what's called a butt connector in the kit seen here:

you crimp that on the other end of the fuse wire and use it to crimp connect to the long line that goes back to your amp.

as for the rca wire with the embedded remote line you can either get a new piece of wire to run your own remote line and simply not use the one in the RCA kit.  or you can splice a small tail onto the wire to make it longer.  you can do that easily with a blue wire nut, or a small butt connector.  you can use very thin wire for this since the remote wire doesnt carry any current.
Good luck!
