Audio Systems: subwoofers not workin, voice coils, car subs

Question
my amp has power but the subwoofers have no sound coming out of them what do i do to fix them

Answer
Sorry to hear that - no pun intended.

You haven't given me allot to work with here so I can only give you the common pitfalls:

First off, spend $20 on an electrician's Multi-meter (V, Ohm, etc.) at Target/Wal-Mart/Radio-Shack, etc.

-Check the audio signal
If you are sending left and right audio to one sub, and you have the poles reversed on the hook-up wire, often they can cancel eachother out and you just hear what sounds like noise.
Also, the hookup wires may be dead themselves.  Use your multi-meter to check continuity through all the cabling.

If you are sending one amp through two voice coils, make sure the amp cables run all the way thorugh the voice coils.  It may depend on how you have your sub hoked up, but you should run from + to -, maybe twice.  If you're just sending cable from your amp to both "+", for instance, you don't even have a complete electrical connection.

Mark Lampi, another expert on this site, has a great knack for troubleshooting car subs and explaining things in simple terms.  If you need more help, I recommend asking him your question, only with more explicit details about your wiring.
