Audio Systems: GM Trailbalzer CD Changer 6 disc, car audio manufacturers, gm dealer

Question
I loaded three CDs into changer, when I attempted to eject only one CD was returned.  I cannot eject, laod or play.  When I hit eject, I get a message "No Discs".  GM dealer stated I had to make an appointment for them to pull the changer and send to factory to retrieve discs.  Any other options. I tried pulling the fuse and reinserting in hopes that the changer would reset, no luck.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Answer
I am really sorry to hear about your troubles.

We get this complaint alot on this board and everytime it really infuriates me that car-audio manufacturers can make such fault-prone products and get away with it.

Unfortunately, my experience with others tells me that there is not easy way to fix that and you may or may not get your CD's back if you send it to the factory for repair.

If the CD's are irreplaceable (or worth more than the cost to fix the changer - NOT LIKELY) then you should get in there with a screw driver and dissassemble the whole thing.  once you  get into the chassis it's not hard to crack oopen the tray and get to your cd's.  The changer is done for, so don't feel shy about breaking things.  Then go buy a new changer.

If the CD's aren't that valuable, send it in for repair.  Most likely you'll get a new or factory refurbished unit - NOT the axact same one you sent in.

I wish you luck!
