Audio Systems: toyota radio repair, toyota tundra, 5v output

Question
I'm afraid my previous question was a little confusing.  First, I got the $14 quote for the regulator from United Audio.  Fujitsu Ten gave me their name as the factory repair shop for their radios.  Then the $300 is for a used unit - that is actually below what they are listed for on eBay.  I think the junk yard prices are comparable.  I live in the northeast, and prices are inflated around here.  Next, the regulator is supposed to put out both 5V and 8V.  The 5V output is working, but the 8V output is not.  It's a B4904 made by Rohm, and again, I don't have enough reference material or electronics knowledge to determine if the 8V should be there when the unit is not on.  Lastly, I got the $14 price again from United Radio.  If you could give me a lead on where I can get the regulator for less, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for your help.

-----Question-----
The regulator is available for $14.  A new unit costs about $300.  I'm cheap!!

Typically, should I expect the 8V to be there even if the unit is not on?  The battery power goes directly into the regulator, and the regulator is putting out the required 5V.  Thanks.

-----Question-----
My 2001 Toyota Tundra radio died - a Fujitsu Ten, id as Toyota 16185.  The radio is completely dead - nothing on the display.  I removed the radio, hooked it to a power supply, noted that the system regulator is not putting out the required 8V.  Is this regulator the issue?  If this is to specific, how can I get a decent service manual for this radio?  The one I have has schematics but no block diagram or troubleshooting procedures.  Thanks for your help.

regulator could be the problem, be sure to check the output leg of it for shorts before replacing it, but i would skip the troubleshooting and go to a junkyard for an exact stereo replacement.

$14? where in the world do you order your parts? that is extremely expensive for a $2 part. the regulator needs to be on all the time to keep the electronics active so the power and possible remote control function. you won't spend anywhere near $300 if you find same vehicle at a junkyard with stereo intact, if it doesn't work, they'll give you another one till it works. but if the regulator is up and putting out the stated voltage, your problem is elsewhere, without a copy of schematic, i can't even begin to offer you places to start, sorry..

Answer
i did some research, and it looks like the 8 volt won't come up until it gets a power on signal from the system control section, which aparrently is not up for some reason. i did some searching for the part to get more data on it, but i can't find it anywhere, either. are there any other numbers listed for the regulator anywhere on schematic? maybe a long number that i can cross? the local rohm distributer is digikey.com., they have a bunch of regulators, but without a better part number, or a pinout description, or a copy of schematic, it's hard to make any type of determination. i'm trying to help, but i just need more info...
