Audio Systems: Car cd player loses memory when ignition turned off, sony gt200, vauxhall corsa

Question
Hi, I hope you can help. I have just installed a cd player in my car. It is a Sony GT200 head unit. The car I have is a Vauxhall Corsa 1998 from the UK. The problem I have is that I store my radio stations and volume, bass, treble settings. Then when I take the key out of the ignition I lose all the saved settings and the clock also resets back to 1:00. I can't figure out how to fix this, could you help me on this or point me in the right direction? If it's a problem with the way the wires are connected could you tell me which wire/s I should be looking at as I dont have a clue where to start. Thanks in advance for any reply.

Regards

Answer
There are two 12v lines to be connected to a radio.

ONE:  Supplies constant 12v continually even when the car is off and the ignition key has been removed.

TWO:  The other comes from the ignition only and powers up the head unit internally.

With most Sony sets these are the color codes:

Coming out of the back of the radio is a multipin connector with many wires.

The solid YELLOW wire goes to constant 12v (to the battery eventually).

The solid RED wire goes to the accessory switched connection of the ignition switch.

There may be a third wire which is ORANGE WITH WHITE STRIPE which feeds the panel light of the radio and connects to light dimming wire from dash lights.

Hope this helps. Cheers,
