Pontiac Repair: no spark, crank sensor, ac volts

Question
I have a 1988 grand prix with the 2.8 It would dye while running so checked fuel pressure it was low. changed the filter,pump,and gave it a tune up at the same time(wires,plugs,oil,filters),now I have no spark at the plugs and it will not start. thank you for any help.

Answer
Hey chris:

If you have no spark on all three coils then it narrows it down a bit. Ther are 3 connectos on that ignition module I think 2 small ones and one with like 4 or 5 wires. the 1 small connector should have a black and pink wire that is power and ground with the key on if no power then you have to trace it back. if no ground same thing. the other small connecor has a purple and yellow wires that is fro the crank sensor use an ohm meter and checkthe resistance of the sensor it should be somewhere between 800-1500 ohms depending on the temp of the sensor. if that's okay have someone crank the car over and check the volatge output of the sensor across those 2 wires it's an ac output so make sure the meter is on ac volts. if that's okay then I would have to say it's a bad ignition module. the other connector is for rpm input to the computer and for spark timing once the car is running. Good luck :}
