Audio Systems: My TV has no A/V Out..., vcr audio, vcr input

Question
OK, I'm hookin' up this way:

DVD Audio Out --> VCR Audio In
VCR Audio Out --> Shelf system Audio In

Result --> Only VCR Audio can be listened. When I turn on DVD, it has no Audio.

I want to hook up DVD, VCR and TV in such a way that -
WITHOUT changing cables; if I turn ON VCR, audio should be on Shelf system, when I turn ON DVD audio should be on Shelf system.

Pl show me the way.

Thnx.

Question -
Hi,

I've Panasonic TV with A/V In only. I've Sony shelf system which has A/V In. I also have Sony DVD Player and Magnavox VCR (both are having A/V In and A/V Out).

How should I connect all the components that I can view picture from TV anad listen audio from the shelf system?

My TV has only A/V In.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have a good day!

Answer -
Video out of the DVD and VCR directly to the tv video in.

Audio out of the DVD and VCR to audio in on the shelf system.

If the tv has only one video in you may need a simple video switch from the elctronics shop to allow you to switch from dvd or vcr.  They cost around $10.

Happy viewing - and listening.

PS: But tv audio you must listen on the tv; since you have not audio out you are stuck.

Answer
You cannot pass dvd audio through vcr.  It is not a good idea.

To do it you must turn the vcr ON and for most of them you must be in the record mode in order to get the audio out.

Connect the dvd audio out to the recevier. Put the vcr audio into the vcr input on the receiver and the dvd to the aux input.

See this - maybe will help:

If your receiver has only one input, I recommend you use a switch box like the one shown here:

http://www.amabilidade2002.com/scart32.htm

OR, purchase new receiver with more inputs.

It is not easy unless you have equipment with lots of ins and outs, etc., etc!
