Audio Systems: Ford Taurus SES 2002 CD Changer, ford taurus, cd magazine

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus that has the original factory loaded stereo and 6 CD Changer. For some reason it just stopped playing my CD's all together. I did check to make sure there wasn't any dust or anything that may have gotten in it, but nothing. The radio plays just fine. My question is, how can I go about having this repaired and about how much is it going to run me. I did take it to one place and they wanted me to change the whole system out, but I think they were thinking that since I'm a female I was just going to go for it. There has to be some way of repairing it. Please advise.

is the cd changer in the radio , or center console / trunk
what is the problem what errors you get from the radio when you press thc cd button?

can you eject the cd magazine ?
is there a little window on the cd magazine to see the discs?
