Audio Systems: No sound from speakers after AUX install, alpine headunit, speaker wires

Question
I have an Alpine headunit, and everything was working correctly.  I purchased an Alpine adapter that allows a mp3 player to be connected via the AUX input.  After the adapter was connected, the speakers stopped working.  I noticed some of the speaker wires from the headunit to the car's factory wiring became disconnected and possibly touched.  After reconnecting them, there still isn't any sound.  I also hit the RESET button on the headunit.  Is there something else I should try?

Answer
Yes, check the wiring from the head unit to the amplifier to make sure they are in the right place.  Should be connected to the OUT on the head unit to the IN on the amplifier.

And, check the mp3 player adaptor to make sure it is connected properly.  Should go from OUT on the adapter to AUX IN on the head unit.

Don't know your car, but you may find some wiring information on www.installdr.com  which is mostly for cars a few years old.

It is worth taking some time to track down the wiring very carefully, or go to an installer/repair shop and have them look at it.  Usually, a pro shop can fix it in seconds.

Good Luck,
