Audio Systems: trying to install an aftermarket amp and sub to stock system, kenwood kac 7252, ford mustang coupe

Question
Hello,

My wife has a 2004 Ford Mustang coupe with a 460 Mach sound system with a 6 disc changer (stock) I put a aftermarket Pyramid "Super Blue" 2-Channel 2000 Watts Max Amp and two 12inch Volfenhags that are 1000 Watts Max a piece. Well, I wanted to take the pyramid and the 2 volfenhags out and up grade to a Kenwood KAC-7252 2-Channel 1000 Watts Max amp and one 12inch Pioneer Premier TS-W3004SPL Sub. I went to put in the Kenwood amp the power light lights up but, there is no sound coming out of the sub and the directions stated that if you hook it up worng the power light will not go on. Do you have any clue what is going on? if you could E-mail me back I would APPRECIATE IT!!! thank you,
Keith

Answer
Well after wading through all the makes, brands, model numbers and what you had, it boils down to "I swaped the amp and sub and it's silent", right?

So lets just run through the basics as that normally puts thing right.

As the 'power on' light is coming on I can assume the signal wire (blue) from the head unit is live O.K.
I take it you are using the same power leads for the new amp but have you checked you still have 12v on the main lead from the battery via a fuse?
Checked for a solid ground lead from the amp?
If running a single sub on a 2 way amp, have you bridged the amp and if so set the amp to “bridged”?
Have you tried substituting the sub with any other speaker to see if that works?
If running one channel “unbridged” have you got the RCA inputs on correctly, wouldn’t be the first time someone has the sub on channel one and the RCAs on channel two!
Have you set the input level to about 75%, again, not the first time someone forgot to set the input level and it was at zero.

If all the above is true then I would need to be there in person, ‘cause it’s something stupid or fried!
Let me know by using the feed back section, thanks, Peter
