Question -
I have a pair of JL audio tr-650 splits that are currently running of my hu and i want to connect them to a 4 channel amp,1&2 channels for splits and 3&4 bridged to sub.
I already have the sub running but would like to know how i go about connecting splits to amp.
The splits have an in-line crossover between the woofer and the tweeter.
Any help would be great.

Thanks
Drew

I'm not really a big fan of running subs and door speakers on the same amp.  the power supply inside the amp will usually dip when the sub hits and this will cause an audible dip or distortion to the beat in the door speakers.  it could actually sound like someone sitting there with their hand on the volume knob turning it down everytime the beat bumps.
I'm assuming you already have the amp though so I'll tell you how to hook it up anyway.  there should be settings on the amp for the front and rear channels,  set the front to High pass or HP and the rear to LP or low pass (whatever it says) if it doesnt have these settings dont use it.
run the rears bridged together and follow the amps wiring for that.
run the inputs from the crossovers to the left and right channels on the amp.
If the amp has 4 separate inputs for each channel use 2 Y adapters to couple the 2 lefts together and the 2 rights together.  there should be independant gain controls as well, use these to balance the level between the splits and the sub so the sub doesnt sound overpowering or weak.
That's it!  If any of my descriptions dont make sense let me know.

Tell me how it goes please.
I understand what you are saying but my crossover is built into the speaker wire and sits in the wire that runs from the woofer to the tweeter i cant plug anything into it. My woofer has two terminals one for the woofer and one that the tweeter attaches to, i have hooked my wires to the  woofer terminal and set the high pass filter to about 90htz but i get no sound at all.

ok well wherever the connection bettween the speaker and the H/U went, disconnect it there and hook it up so that it now goes from the speaker to the amplifier.  It sounds like you did that so you say you get no sound at all?
do you have an aftermarket headunit or factory?   if its aftermarket you are using RCAs to connect the HU to the amp right?  if so are you using the Y adapters I was talking about.
How about we do it this way.  you tell me all of the equipment you have,  make and model numbers if possible and tell me how its hooked up.  I know that sounds like a pain but it should show me exactly where we're going wrong here.
Thanks
I got them going, i was trying to see if the first side i did would work before i pulled the door trim off the other side but i had to wire up both sides before i got any sound.
Thanks for your help.

Answer
well your very welcome for my help but it soundds like something is still wrong here since the 2 speakers should work independant of eachother, they shouldnt need to both be hooked up before they work. if you want to get it better tell me eaxtly which wire from which speaker goes on which terminal on the amp.  list all of them.
thanks
