Audio Systems: Speakers for surround sound, floor speakers, polk m10

Question
When setting my speakers on my Sony STR-DE698, it asks to either set them at small or large, how can you tell which to set them at? I'm using Technics Floor speakers for the front and have them set to large, the center channel is a POLK CSM and the surrounds are POLK M10's. Any advice would be helpful.

THANKS

Answer
When set to "large" the system assumes they are speakers that can handle the entire frequency range.

When set to "small" the system assumes the speakers are small in size and therefore cannot reproduce the low bass frequencies and electronically reduces the those low frequencies so as not to overlaod the speakers.

So, if your speakers are full range speakers, use the "large" settings.  If they are small satellite speakers, use the "small" settings.

Hopet his settles the matter.
