Audio Systems: Which pwered sub for 04 VW Jetta?, vw jetta, monsoon system

Question
Hi Mark, I think I've narrowed it down to the Bazooka BTA6100 or 6200.. or the BTA8100 or 8200.
Not looking to blow the doors off. I have a stock Monsoon system. Enjoy tight deep bass that I can feel. All kinds of music. What's the diff b/t these bazooka products besides that 100-200watt. Any othe suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks you,
Paul

Answer
well, I havent heard bazooka tubes for a long time.  This is probably becuase I didnt like them at all and never wanted to hear one again!  The 8200 is a much better "sub". The 6100 shouldn't even be regarded as a subwoofer.  Both the 6100 and 6200s have 6 1/2" speakers which is probably the same small size as your door speakers in your car.  although these 6.5"s would be beefier than door speakers and are in a box designed to produce bass they still arent what I would call a subwoofer.
If you have your heart set on one of these tubes definatly go with the 8200.  it has an 8" speaker and 8 inches is where the boundry between speaker and subwoofer starts.  Remember most people choose a 12" speaker for a sub and although it seems it might only be twice as big as a 6" it goes by area and stroke not diameter. a 12" speaker has about 113 sq inches of surface while a 6.5" speaker only has 33 so it easily can produce 3 times the sound. then if you consider that most 12" speakers can move 3 times the stroke distance of a 6.5 then that means that the 12 can produce the same amount of sound as 9 6.5" speakers!  Not to mention 9 speakers would take considerably more power than 1, this means that the 12" speaker is much more effiecient as well so you get more sound with less power.
Please let me know what you think.
