Audio Systems: adding rear speakers, amp output, rear speakers

Question
I have a corolla '00 with Toyota FujitsuTen am/fm/cd player.  I'm basicly happy with this but would like to add rear speakers.  I know this is possible because it has a fade adjustment as well as balance.  I need to know how to find up which connectors to use and the wiring diagram.

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer
I don't trust wiring diagrams and connectors that are questionable.  I prefer, actually, that you get an ohmmeter and check out the speaker wiring and run them correct.

You can purchase a handy little vom at Walmart for $9.83.  Use it to check the wires that go back to the rear deck.  If there are no wires, you will have to purchase wire and run a pair for each of the speakers. You can usually fish them under the carpets and under the back seat and up to the speaker deck.

Then, before you mount the speakers in the deck, take one of them and with a short run of wire connect it to what you think is a speaker amp output from the radio.  By trial and error you can connect until you get sound; then with the fader control determine which one it is; back left or back right, etc.  Then mark the wires so that you can connect them accordingly  (solder and tape is good; connector is alright too so long as you know for sure it is connecting the right amp outputs to the speaker it should go to.

Hope that is clear.  Let me know if you have questions.
