Audio Systems: 1970 F100 ranger, fuse box, car stereos

Hi im trying to get a cd player to work in my truck right now. The guy that had it before me had one hooked up in it but it was a cheap one so i took it out and tried to put a new one in and it only came on for a few seconds until i poped the fuse. i put another one in and it didn't work after that. So i wanted to make sure it wasn't the radio and installed it into my car and it worked fine. The guy had both wires running to the fuse box. One plugged into it and the other on a fuse. is this right. can you help me

For car stereo and other mobile, low voltage questions, please go to the allexperts.com section Autos > Auto Repair > Car Radio/Stereo System Repair or you can try one of the other guys in “Audio Systems” who handles car stereos. I don’t.
