Audio Systems: rear speaker gets hot, rear speakers, honda accord ex

i just installed a new dual cd player and two new sony explode 6x9 rear speakers for my 99 honda accord ex after listening to music for a bit the rear passenger speaker gets extremely hot and the sound gets distorted and when i turn the car off there is a little pop noise coming from that speaker any advice would be appreciated

Options are to:
1) Check the wiring (at the deck) for proper wiring to the speakers.
2) If it is accordance with the installaion intructions, pull the rear speaker and test it out of the vehicle to see if it is the problem. If so, warranty/replace the speakers.
3) If it is ok, run new speaker wire for both rear speakers.
