Audio Systems: RCA DVD playere, rca dvd player, technology advances

Question
I have lost colour on my RCA DVD player. It now functions in black and white. Is there a way to correct this or do I trash the player?

Answer
Dear Floyd,

I've never heard of that--many things, but not that. Hence, I have no idea what's wrong with your DVD player, and I assume you've checked the connections, the manual for color vs. B/W settings, and so forth.

Although my POV re DVD players is anathema in the community, I favor buying the cheapest (about £25-30 or US$50-60), using it until it breaks, trashing it, and buying another one. The advantage to this approach is that the technology advances so rapidly that the player you buy today is virtually obsolete a year later. It's an inexpensive way of not getting left behind.

If you want a really good, solid, reliable, never-have-to-replace-and-obsolescence-be-damned player, go for one with a reputation for excellent build quality: Onkyo and Denon are two that I trust.

Good luck. And thanks for using allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
