Audio Systems: klh receiver, blown fuse, klh r5100

Question
receiver is a klh R5100.  the stand-by light is on when powered off and goes off when powered on.  problem is that the lcd screen shows nothing and no sound comes out.  from a previously asked question it seems like the power supply might be screwed.  the receiver was working and then just cut out one day when playing pretty loud.  do you think its the power supply or is it just a blown fuse?

Answer
Dear Matt,

Consult the user's manual for the location of user servicable fuses and check them. A blown fuse is a frequent result of playing stuff too loudly. Make sure to replace a blown fuse with one of the same value.

You may have tripped the thermal protection circuits, another outcome of playing stuff too loudly for too long. Completely unplug the unit, let it cool down, plug it back in and try to power it up.

If the unit still doesn't work, you have to have it serviced. KLH (www.klhaudio.com or 877-799-0863) offers customer support and some on-line troubleshooting.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
