Hi. I need some info on my system that no one has been able to help out with on other sites, so I'm hoping you can help me out. Here are the specs: I bought a used 1997 Mustang V6 with the Mach 460 system.  It includes 2 rear amps in rear sound bar, 1 head unit amp under radio, 2 front window tweeters, 2 back sound bar tweeters, 2 front woofers, and 2 back sound bar woofers. All of the fuses are fine and all the wires are connected.  The problem is that I only get minimal sound coming from the 2 front & 2 rear tweeters. There is no sound from the 4 woofers.  Changing the treble, bass, fade, etc. does not help as some have suggested. Disconnecting the rear amps did not help either. According to some literature out there, the front amp supplies the tweeters and the 2 rear amps supply the woofers, but are tied together somehow. Is it both the rear amps?
Thanks for any useful info.

Hello,
Tweeters only produce a little sound. And because they are both on one amp and the others are on a separate amp(s). It would seem to me that, that section of the system is working fine.

How do you have the two rears amps connected to the 4 woofers?

If you could take a picture from the top of the amps and send it to me. And kind of label the different outs. That would be handy. Or at least a make and model I could look up.  And a written description of how things our connected.

It could be a bad crossover.  Or a remote wire that is not connected.  Does it power on then power off very quickly?  I need more info man.

Anton,

The Mach 460 came with the 1997 Mustang V6.  The sound bar in the rear dash is plug and play, a harness.  All connections are in correctly.  The system powers on and off fine.  Is there a way to test those 2 amps w/o paying someone $17 each amp?  Check this site out for wiring and other info if needed:

Thank you for responding,

Answer
So far I have never had any problems with this particular vehicle before. I whish I could help more.  If this was an aftermarket amp problem I would check all of the connections over and take a second look at the remote wires and that none of the speakers have grounded out.

You can disconnect all of the subs but one and see if it suddenly starts to work and that would indicate a short.

If you can identify the power and ground on the deck you can see if the unit is getting power with an ohm/amp meter. And if you can identify the remote wire. I would check the state of it with the meter as you turn the deck stereo on and off.

You could probably pick one of these up at your local junk yard and replace one of them and see if it is blown.

Good luck,
Anton
