Audio Systems: Stereo speakers, sony hcd, stereo one

I have a sony HCD-GS200 stereo.  One day a speaker stopped working for no apperent reason.  I switched the speakrers so that the right was plugged into the left and so on.  This just made the other speaker stop working.  I've realize that its a problem with the plug in, not the speakers.  Is there any way to fix this?

Well, you did the first I would have suggested: switch the speakers. Good job.

The problem is most likely in the output stage of the unit's amplifier. It could be failed transistor or capacitor or simply a loose wire. The only way to confirm this is to have the unit bench tested by a qualified repair technician.
