Audio Systems: Poor Radio Reception, pioneer deh p80mp, poor radio reception

I just installed a new Pioneer DEH-P80MP CD/MP3 player. When the key is turned to the ACC position the radio reception is perfect, but as soon as the car is started, the reception gets alot of static(crackling) in the background.  I have moved the ground wire position 3 times, but only in positions by the receiver, or under the dash.  Its a 92 Acura Legend sedan, and all my wire connections were soldered.  This is also about my 8th install and never noticed this problem before.

Outside of a possible miswiring on the constant and switched lines to the headunit (and having tried a new solid chassis grounding point for the headunit):
The 14 year old antenna would be the next thing to check.
Aquire a new one to plug in to the headunit temporarily and see if the problem is resolved.
That year might have an FM antenna booster on it which would need power and might be on the fritz.

A new test antenna would bypass this.
