Audio Systems: speaker, infinity system, replacement speakers

Question
Dear Jerry:   I have a '94 Dodge van with an Infinity stereo system, one of the rear speakers is squealing, works intermittantly.   I wiggled the wires which helps, but doesn't last for more than a day, frustrated I removed the speaker.  Since it has more than 2 wires, replacement is not easy.  Where can I locate a replacement speaker, I checked the local junk yard to no avail.   Sincerely Scott

Answer
Yea..  good luck finding one.
Here is why:
The best advice is to get as far away from that mobile Infinity system as possible, if it is over 4 years old.
At 12 years of age, this entire system is a shoe-in for replacement/upgrade. Upgrading will last many years if you choose decent aftermarket equipment.
You may be able to get away with a simple deck and 4 to 6 speakers. This depends on your tastes and pocketbook.
You can easily have a new nice deck in it for under 130.00.
The speakers and their new wiring would be the most expensive parts. I would advise to spend as much as you can afford on them.

I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but these are the facts. If you want to pursue this, feel free to ask any questions.
Alternatively, you might try ebay for a single or pair of replacement speakers.

Good luck,
Jmael
