Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): power washer, high pressure hose, honda gc160

Question
i have a honda gc160 5.0 hp power washer that i bought used  the problem is when it's running when i pull the trigger on the wand the pump has full pressure for about 10 seconds then the pressure cuts in half is it an adjustment or is the pump dead please help

Answer
I will give you a step by step instruction on how to test your pressure washer.

Step 1:  Without the engine running disconnect the high pressure hose at the pump.  Turn on the water, Does the water run out of the high pressure hose connecter freely?  IF not check your inlet screen for obstructions.

Step two..  WITH YOUR HIGH PRESSURE HOSE STILL DISCONNECTED, and the water running through it normally, START the engine, watch the water flow, does it consistently spray a HIGH PRESSURE Water stream?  or does it quit after about 10 secs?  If it quits, your pump is in need of service, perhaps bad check valves, dirt, etc..

If Step two is okay, then your problem will be with your gun wand itself.

Let me know and i can instruct you further on want troubleshooting
