Audio Systems: factory bose sub woofer not working, car stereo system, fuse boxes

Question
Jerry,
Will you please help me to determine the problem with our bose car stereo system.  We own a 2000 Infiniti I30 that we bought new in 2000 & from day one the rear speaker, I assume this is the sub woofer, which sits below the rear window has not worked.  We have taken it to the dealer on numerous occasions & they claim that there is nothing wrong with the speaker?  I've checked the fuse boxes & no fuses relating to the system is blown.  I've checked the harness & connections to the speaker & it all seems intact.  The amplifier sits right next to it.  I am a novice at troubleshooting & would appreciate any advice that you offer.  Thanks in advance.  Dan

Answer
*not working...
Well, if they say the speaker is ok, it probably is.
This may be a situation where you are expecting much more than accurate bass reproduction (as those systems will generally stand up and salute if the music material calls for it).
I for one, would be have been certain everything worked b4 I left the dealer the 1st time, because if they (then) said it was working, you could have decided that the level of bass it reproduced was inadequate and went to the next dealer or model.
As it is now, I would have to presume that it does work and that you are expecting more that Infinity chose to install.

The best resolve in that car might be to take it to a professional audio store/shop with you having only novice troubleshooting experience.

Good Luck
