Audio Systems: 1999 Ford Explorer Radio No display, eddie bauer, ford explorer

The display in my 1999 Eddie Bauer Explorer radio went out for several months, then came back for about two days, then went out again for good.  Everything else on the unit works fine.  Is this an easy fix or should I replace the stereo?

fixing displays is never easy, the hardest part is just getting it apart enough to get to lamps without destroying the stereo. if you can get to the lamps, and identify type and such, you can get replacements through someplace like parts express.com, but if it were mine, i'd either get a new unit, or visit a junkyard for the exact same unit. if by chance you get one with bad display, just take it back and they'll give you another.
