Audio Systems: Radio/Cassette Player 1994 Dodge Caravan, radio cassette player, oem replacements

Question
The radio in the van is not working at all.  I can turn it on but there is no sound.  The tape player works but there is no sound.  The LED that displays the time and station is blank.  I thought it was the fuse but when I replaced it, it still didn't work.  I even checked the fuses in the box next to the engine but it was not that either.

Do you have any ideas as to what this could be?  The unit itself?

Everything else works fine.  The radio/clock is the only thing effected.

Answer
Cindy,

this sounds like a few things, depending on what type of radio system you have in the van if its infinity or other bose ect.. it could be your amplifier, which supplies the power to produce the sound.. i'am not there to do some tests so i would suggest taking the van to a good local audio shop for a once over let the tech do a few tests and he can tell you what you need to have repaired or replaced... in the event it is the amp and/or radio unit i would suggest going back with an aftermarket system since the high cost of OEM replacements are through the roof.. hope this helps you out sorry i can do more but if you need anything else let me know

thanks
