Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler T&C Limited ...issues!, door latch, pinball machine

Question
The drivers side rear door opens but won't close all the way, the rear wipers went out, the back only open speriodically, the temperature never changes from 40 and the radio/cd player stopped working.  All of this happened in a very short amount of time. Even when I try to open the back door manually it sometimes just dings and sounds like a pinball machine and won't let me in. Since all of this happened so close together is it just some electrical problem?  Should I just ditch the van or is it worth fixing. I have 118K on it.  I am just so frustrated right now.  Thanks, Tammy

Answer
Hi Tammy,
I hear your pain. But to deal with these several items reasonably lets take them one at a time. The rear wiper might be out because fuse 11 (20 amp) in the power distribution box by the battery could be blown. Similarly, check fuse 14 (15 amp) in the same box for the radio/cd.
On the heater/ac, try a control calibration: turn the ignition switch to the run position. Simultaneously press and hold the power and recirculation buttons on the control panel for at least 5 seconds. Once some LED's begin to flash you can release the buttons. After 20 seconds (if you have the automatic temp control unit) or after 3 minutes (if you have the regular temp control unit) the lights will stop flashing. If they don't stop, then there is a fault in the system that needs to be analyzed using a code reader to identify what is wrong. Let me know if you have an automatic temp control or a conventional type.
The hatch door latch may just need to be lubricated so consider looking at the movable tab that actually secures it to the contact with which it meshes.
I got you question off the 'pool' to which Kevin referred it.
