Audio Systems: car radio stopped working, auto parts stores, dodge shadow

Question
Garry, I have an old Dodge Shadow, 94, but it only has 35,000 miles on it so it is like new.  For some reason the am/fm radio didn't work one day, including the clock.  A few days later it worked!  But since then, nothing, not even the clock.  We know the fuse is ok. All the other electrical in the car is ok.  Any ideas for an electrically challenged person to repair it?  How easily can a new one be installed if we buy one?  Thanks, Connie

Answer
there's probably somewhere between the radio and battery a section of specific sized wire called a 'fusible link' that has opened for some reason. you will need some kind of voltmeter to trace back from the radio to a point you pick up voltage again. this can be a major headache to find. i'd give it an hour or so, if you aren't successful, let someone else do it. fusible links can be bought at auto parts stores, but you have to know what size to replace it with....
