Audio Systems: Ford CD Unit, photo sensors, ford radio

Question
I have a 2000 Ford Radio/CD (6 Disk) Player.  I just purchased this used to replace a Cass. Player.  The radio is a perfect match to the wiring and the radio works fine.  The CD player has a problem.  If you press LOAD it says all slots are full, but it does not play.  If you press EJECT it asks which slot, and when you try any of the numbers it comes up "CD Error."  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Answer
David,
I see quite a few of these stereos in my shop and in most cases the problem is due to faulty sensors. If one or more of the photo sensors is open or shorted the CD unit simply won't work. Error messages will come up even if all the trays have CDs in them.
