Audio Systems: car stereo?, auto parts dealer, probe tips

HI there,  I hope you can help, if not sorry to bother you.
My car stereo just stopped working the other day.  I was listening one minute turned car off, came back out turned car on and stereo does not work.  I checked the fuse for the stereo, it is fine.  what could cause this to happen?  What else should I check?

you will have to get access to the back of the unit, and you will need a dc volt meter with really sharp probe tips to check and see if you actually have voltage getting to the unit. do this by sticking 1 probe tip into hot wire, piercing insulation enough to touch wire inside, the other tip to ground. if you are not getting voltage there, you probably have a 'fusible link' (section of specific size wire made to burn out) bad, which can be obtained at local auto parts dealer and easily replaced. just take a section with you so they know what size to sell you. if you do have voltage present at radio, unit is probably bad, and most of the time, is cheaper to replace radio than have it fixed. hope this helps some, at least.....g......
