Audio Systems: Clairon radio in Range Rover, high pitch sound, differance

Question
My Range Rover 1997 has a Clarion Diversity (AMR 2672)radio and CD unit OEM installed. Firstly the MW signal is very weeak and there is a high pitch sound at all times even when the car is turned off. I Have checked the ants. on both back windows and they are fine. I also connected a external ant. but no differance.
The second problem is on the FM band if I tune a FM station and use it without the RDS on all is well, but if i use RDS within a minute the radio locks up and the only way to reset it is to pul the power plug for a short time and then re-enter the code and not use RDS.

Any thoughts

We dont seem to have any clairon agents in South Africa.

Answer
Jimmy,
It sounds like your stereo will need to be repaired. Any number of faults can cause the unit to make the high pitched squeal. The RDS problem is most likely due to a fault in the RDS decoder circuits.
