Audio Systems: 8 in Instead of 6X9, pontiac sunfire, rear deck

Question
Hi Tom:

I have an 01 Pontiac Sunfire. The factory door speakers provide more than enough mid and highs.  Instead of 6X9's though, I would like to install 8's in the rear deck plus their own amp. I don't really want the added expense and complexity of a separate sub.

1. Do you know of any pitfalls in using 8's instead of 6X9's on a rear shelf?

2. Am I correct in assuming that most 8's will produce more bass than 6X9's?

3. Is a rear shelf too weak for 8's and will cause everything rear of the back seat to rattle like crazy?

Thanks

Answer
Terrence,
If the 8" speakers are the same impedance and they will fit in the rear shelf they should work OK. As far as the rattles, you can use some spray on dampening foam to tighten everything up to prevent any metal from rattling.
