Audio Systems: Car radio, fm tuner module, rf amp

Question
Hi Tom,
I have a problem with my wife's car am/fm/cd radio in her 2000 crysler cirrus. The fm portion of the radio won't pick up anything but static. We had the car into the Crysler dealer about a month ago for some front wheel work and it seems that the problem started about them. The cd works fine as does the am protion of the radio. But when you change it to the fm portion all you get is static. I checked to see if the antenna in the trunk had accidentally became unplugged, but it seems ok. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks,
Hugh

Answer
Hugh,
If the stereo will pick up the AM stations OK the antenna is working. The problem is most likely with the FM tuner module. If the FM radio has static, most of the module is working and the fault is in the front end of the module possibly in the RF amp section.
