Audio Systems: display on factory radio/cd player not working, pontiac sunfire, antitheft device

Question
2000 Pontiac sunfire. I put in a remote starter from one car to this car. The sunfire has an antitheft device so I had to purchase a bypass for the antitheft, I had the wrong settings for the bypass module. Two days later the display stopped working on the radio, the radio and cd player still work but the display does not. I now have the correct settings and the remote starter works. Could this be the cause for the display to not work? Is there a way for me to fix the display or should I just purchase a new stereo.
Thank you

Answer
Brian,
The stereo in your vehicle, is it a factory stereo or an aftermarket unit? If the stereo is a factory stereo and the radio and CD still function but no display, the problem is with the display power supply. Some kind of a surge on the power line may have damaged the display power supply.
