Audio Systems: Cd player install, pioneer 6x9 speakers, ash tray

Question
Hello Tom- I received a Kenwood 6011 CD player that was used for a short time but working when professionally removed (harness attached). I also was given some leftover Pioneer 6x9 speakers. Here is what I did: I have a 1973 Ford F250 with a stock AM radio & old torn speaker's in door. I installed new speakers in doors and will mount the deck underneath the dash, below the ash tray. No need to put it in the dash. What I tried was to "rob" the wiring off the old radio. The antenna hooked up fine, the 12v constant power with an inline 5v fuse hooked up fine, the speakers have new wiring and hooked up fine. Here is the problem: I connected the ignition switch wire, but the deck will not run. I have power to it since it will eject cd's and security light flashes when faceplate down, but nothing out of the deck. All fuses are good and I have pushed the reset button and I could hear the deck doing something (I guess re-setting). I re-connected everything thinking possibly bad connection but now the reset button will not do anything but the eject button still works. The wire I am assuming is ignition switch is blue with red stripe and came from top of old radio and the other end goes through a couple "connectors" & splices and into the ignition. What could I be missing? Your thoughts and time are appreciated.

Answer
Cody,
The new stereo needs two power sources to function, 12 volts hot at all times (memory wire, yellow) and 12 volts switched with the key on (main power, red wire) Use a 12 volt test light to make sure both 12 volt sources are OK.
