Audio Systems: Honda Accord CD player/radio Housing, bump in the road, dash area

Question
Tom:

I have a 1990 Honda Accord LX.  4 years ago, I received a very nice cd player for my car as a Christmas gift and it was installed at the place of purchase.  About a year ago, I noticed a small crack formed on both sides of the housing where the cd player/radio is installed.  The cracks have now turned into a breaks, and my player is no longer seated properly.  It actually slides down - especially when I go over a bump in the road or over RR tracks, and I have to lift it up and in to keep it from coming out.  From the looks of housing or dash area (where the heater/AC is also housed), it would appear this entire part of the dash would have to be replaced.  What would have caused this problem?  Is this something I can repair without having to take it to a dealer?  I realize it may be hard to answer, having not seen the actual problem.  If a picture would be more helpful, let me know and I'll be more than happy to send to you.

Thanks,

Answer
JoJo,
If possible send me a couple of photos of the dash around the stereo. A couple of the other techs here would also like to take a look at the photos. One tech told me that he has seen cracks before and it was due to a faulty installation of the stereo. Send the photos to my direct Email.
