Audio Systems: 92 Toyota Corolla Stereo, cd walkman, toyota corolla

I have a 1992 Toyota Corolla in which I installed a CD Walkman to the casette player using a Goodmans CD Walkman car kit.  It worked fine for a while but when I insert the tape which connects to the wlaman to play the music it keeps flipping between the two sides of the tape.  It will work after about 20 minutes of contiunally ejecting and inserting the casette but it gets very annoying.

I was thinking that maybe i need to clean the casette player using a cassete head cleaning kit.

What do you think?

The problem may be due to either the tape player itself not seeing that the spindles are turning or the adapter hubs inside of it aren't turning the way they should. By what you mentioned about having to continually insert the tape until it finally works, it sounds like a faulty sensor that senses the reels turning, needs time to warm up before it works like it should.
