Audio Systems: 98 Nissan Maxima cd player, nissan maxima, spindle motor

The factory CD player on my '98 Nissan Maxima displays "ERR" when I insert a cd and then ejects it. I've tried several. I've tried cleaning it, but it did not make a difference. Thank you for your help.

It's possible that the lens in the laser pick up assembly is very dirty/dusty or it may have smoke on it if anyone that rides in your vehicle smokes. A cleaning CD will not help if the lens is very dirty because the laser has to SEE the disc first before the spindle motor will spin to clean the lens. You may need to have the lens cleaned manually with a Qtip with a special cleaning solution on it.
