Audio Systems: Volume control replacement, auto salvage yard, volume control replacement

Question
Hello. I have a 95 GMC Safari with a factory CD/radio. The volume control stem has been broken off and is not repairable. Can this be replaced and if so how difficult will it be. The volume still works although a pair if needle nose plyers is the only way to adjust it. I have the plastic knobs and are in good shape. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mick.

Answer
Mick,
You may want to check out your local auto salvage yard to see if they might have the same stereo. You could replace the one in your vehicle with the one from the salvage yard if working. They may even have a stereo that doesn't work which you may be able to purchase for the volume control. If this doesn't work out give me the complete model number off the stereo and I will call my Delco parts dealer for a price on a new part.
