Audio Systems: Amplifier, volvo 240 gl, light fades

Question
I am installing a cd player, two speakers, and an amplifier on my 1990 Volvo 240 GL Wagon. It was all going smooth (I even set up the system in my front seat and checked to make sure it worked). After running all the wires to the back where I'm going to install the amplifier, I tried to turn it on. When I turn on the car, or switch it over to accesories a small pop comes out of my speakers. The amplifier seems to turn on, and then the green power light fades out slowly. It is an Eclipse EA2212. I have not had any problems with it in my previous cars. The wires going to the amp are all run correctly with the Monster Cable amp hookup kit. (The battery wire, the ground, and the remote) The fuse in the amp is good as is the fuse in battery wire. The head unit is a Pioneer and the speakers are high end Bostons.

Answer
Robb,
With the stereo on the front seat, the stereo may not be getting a good enough ground to operate. And for the amp, make sure that the ground wire is as short as possible and that it is attached to the chassis.
