Audio Systems: Radio Repair, radio cd cassette, way speaker system

I have a 98 Nissan Maxima with a Radio, CD,Cassette, 6 way speaker system; and I am not sure if it is a Bose or a stock system.  The left
on/off control is broken and is now completely off
the unit.  This pressure control also is used to
increase/decrease volume.

1. Can it be replaced without removing system (by
ordering the part alone)?

2. What is a fair repair price?

3. Is it more economical to buy a new unit?

The face plate can be replaced for around $100, however you can tray using a small piece of foam and with contact cement, glue it across the center from left to right between the up and down contacts and then glue the button top to the foam. Some trial and error of cutting and fitting is a good thing to do before using the cement.
