Audio Systems: CD Player ejects disc, toyota rav, rubbing alcohol

I occasionally use the CD player in my 1998 Toyota RAV. Today I inserted a disc, heard the player try to read the disc, and then had the player spit the disc out in about 5 seconds. I tried several discs and a disc cleaner. I had the same result every time. No information was displayed on the screen.

Susan,
The lens in the CD unit may be so dirty that it needs to be cleaned manually with a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol. If you or anyone else that rides in your vehicle smokes, this will coat the lens with smoke and it won't be able to see the CD's.
