Audio Systems: Beginning installing car stereo, installing car stereo, chevrolet celebrity

Hey. I know nothing at all about cars, but i want to put a stereo in my 1985 chevrolet celebrity. I don't want a $3000, mega-awesome system or anything, just a dash unit w/ cd player and fm radio, and maybe a couple speakers in the front, a couple in the back. Would I be able to do this? Like i said, i know nothing, so is it better to get it done professionally? If so, how much would that cost?

If you stop by a CircuitCity or bestBuy outlet you can ask any salesperson for all the items needed to install any stereo of your choice into your car. After you pick out a stereo that suits your needs, you will need the adapter for the in dash connector and the plastic dash kit for mounting your new stereo into the dash of your car. With four new speakers that will fit your car you should be in business. You may want to ask if they also have any special install instructions for a first time installer! If you are not sure if you can install your new stereo you can ask the salespeople what their install people will charge to install the stereo into your vehicle.
