Audio Systems: Tape jammed in player, ac delco, dash board

Question
AM,FM,CD/Tape player in GM auto 1998(AC/Delco) Tape put into player, it didn't play, no sound of any tape movement. I tried to eject, clicking noise, then code E13 displayed, tape is jammed in player and will not eject. All other fucntions of radio and CD are fine. Tape player was very little used. Is there an easy way to remove the tape without dismanteling the cars dash board and removing the whole unit? Thank you for any help!! R.B.

Answer
R.Behrens,
The only way to remove the tape without causing more damage to the tape unit is to remove the stereo from the dash and gain access to the tape unit. With the tape unit opened you can turn the load motor to back the tape out of the tape deck. I find on many of these units that the clicking noise is caused by a broken load gear, therefore it may be hard to back the tape out by turning the load motor in reverse. If you need more info on repairing the damaged tape player, please contact me direct.
